Phytochemical Characterization of Marine Macro Alga Sargassum polycystem, Molecular Docking, and In Vitro Anti-bacterial Activity against Psuedomonas aeruginosa
Marine macro algae are useful to mankind as food, biofertilizer, and source of bioactive compounds such as agar-agar, alginates, and carrageenan. The aim of this study was to explore the phytochemicals, and the antibacterial activity of the marine alga Sargassum polycystem. The marine alga was subjected to ethanolic and methanolic extractions. The preliminary screening for phytochemicals showed...
متن کاملPhytochemical Screening, Anti-oxidant Activity and in Vitro Anti-diabetic Activity of Aqueous, Methanolic, Ethanolic and Chloroformic Extracts of Hygrophilaauriculata
Objective: The objective of this study was to screen the phytochemical constituents of the seeds of the medicinal plant Hygrophilaauriculata and to obtain preliminary in vitro data about its anti-diabetic effects. Methods: First extracts in four solvents i.e. water, methanol, ethanol and chloroform were prepared by optimized maceration procedures. Determination of the phytochemical constituents...
متن کاملAnti-Virulence Activity of Selected Natural Products against Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a serious opportunistic pathogen in hospitalized patients. The ability of P. aeruginosa to cause a wide range of infections is due to the production of a large array of virulence factors (Balasubramanian et al., 2013). Pseudomonas aeruginosa is highly adaptable and have diverse phenotypic characteristics, to inhabit various environmental conditions (Yosuke and Yutaka, ...
متن کاملStructural requirements for anti-oxidant activity of calix[n]arenes and their associated anti-bacterial activity.
Treatment of neural cells with calix[n]arenes featuring sulphonate moieties and linked to Ag nanoparticles results in reduced reactive species. For Gram+ bacteria there is an inverse correlation between anti-bacterial activity and ROS reduction whereas for Gram- bacteria only calix[6]arenes bearing O-alkyl sulphonate functions act as ROS inhibitors and anti-bacterial agents.
متن کاملEvaluation of Anti-oxidant and Anti-biofilm Activities of Biogenic Surfactants Derived from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Biosurfactants, the microbial originated surface active agents, can modify the physicochemical properties of surfaces and reduce the bacterial adhesion via changing bacterial adhesion interactions on surfaces. They were also able to block oxidative chain reactions and might show antioxidant properties. The goal of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant and antibiofilm activities of biosurf...
